Welcome to The Mississippi Trustee |
|
Trustees know that the health care environment is constantly changing and in their role as a trustee they need to keep informed and up-to-date. The Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) recognizes that our hospital trustees need specialized tools, comprehensive training programs and other educational resources to help them make the critical decisions required to ensure affordable, quality health care for the communities they serve.
We hope that MississippiTrustee.com will be an invaluable resource to our state's trustees and will keep the Web site updated with timely, pertinent information. Feel free to suggest resources to share with other trustees. (Email suggestions to Shawn Lea at

MHA names Sherra Smith Hospital Trustee of the Year |
Mrs. Sherra Smith, a member of the King’s Daughters Medical Center Board of Trustees, was named Hospital Trustee of the Year by the Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) at the 78th Annual Leadership Conference held June 24-26 in Biloxi, Miss.
“This is a great honor,” said Smith during an awards luncheon during the conference, “and one I share with the entire hospital staff and its board.”
Mrs. Smith began her service to King’s Daughters Medical Center in 2003 when she was elected to the hospital’s board of directors. In 2005, she was elected chairman of the board.
King’s Daughters has accomplished much under Mrs. Smith’s leadership. The hospital has developed its own emergency department physician group and recruited several new physicians. A facility master plan was completed in 2008. The hospital has expanded women’s services, radiological services, outpatient surgery services, and inpatient surgery beds. Space has been added for inpatient surgery beds, Emergency Department treatment rooms, LDRP units, and C-section rooms.
Smith was presented with a commemorative plaque of the honor during MHA’s annual membership luncheon at the Beau Rivage Resort & Casino in Biloxi. |
